How I’ve missed my German-Irish Thunder. Welcome back, Michael Fassbender. I was lonely without you. I merely entertained myself with the Charlies and Toms and Liams and Alexs. You are my one and only. You and Benedict Cumberbatch. My only two great loves. Even Clive Owen is dead to me! Anyway, these are some new photos of Michael on Friday in NYC. He’s doing press for 12 Years a Slave and The Counselor, which will both be out in the next month.

While he’s in NYC, do you think he ever runs into any of his exes? I wonder if he calls Nicole Beharie for an occasional booty call? And what about Zoe Kravitz? Well, Zoe actually came to a New York screening of The Counselor last week and they managed to talk like mature adults. Huh.

First class exes! Former couple Zoe Kravitz and Michael Fassbender reunited in New York City on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at a screening of the actor’s newest film, The Counselor. The X-Men: First Class costars caught up with each other during a cocktail party at the event.

An eyewitness tells Us Weekly that Fassbender, 36, spent much of his time before the screening, hosted by Cinema Society & Emporio Armani, chatting with Kravitz, 24. “The seemed like very good friends,” the insider tells Us. But as soon as the screening of his film got underway, Fassbender went his separate way.

Despite their 12-year age difference, the two started dating while filming X-Men in 2010. At the time a source told us, “They’re really low-key, but they have a great time together just talking music or movies.”

The couple split in 2011, however, and Fassbender went on to date his Shame costar Nicole Beharie. The actor confirmed they were dating in the June 2012 issue of GQ, and, seven months later, Beharie revealed they broke up on Twitter in January 2013.

After her relationship with Fassbender, Kravitz began dating Gossip Girl actor Penn Badgley. The couple split in June 2013 after two years together — but a reconciliation may be in the works. The pair was spotted kissing during a romantic getaway to Rome, Italy just last month.

It’s worth noting that of all of his relationships (that we know of), the one with Zoe was very serious for a time and there definitely seemed to be some lingering feelings there, even after they were over. Do you remember that? I remember that. I think they broke up in the beginning of the summer in 2011 and Zoe began seeing Penn Badgley. Then Fassy came calling and Zoe followed him to Toronto and then she went back to Penn. And now she’s doing the same on-and-off thing with Penn again too. I have to admire her game. And I like both Zoe and Michael more for still remaining friendly – friendly enough that she stops by a screening to his new film!

As for Michael and his dude friends… well, you know he loves Brad Pitt and you know Brad loves him right back. People ran this interesting “bromance alert” story last week too:

For Michael Fassbender, meeting and working with Brad Pitt on 2009’s Inglourious Basterds was a life-changing experience.

“Brad is a wonderful human being who has a generous soul,” Fassbender, 36, told PEOPLE at Wednesday’s Cinema Society and Emporio Armani screening of his new film The Counselor in New York. “I have a lot of reasons to thank him. He has always been a real champion for me.”

In addition to The Counselor, the Irish-German actor reteams with his Basterds costar in the Oscar-buzzy movie 12 Years a Slave, opening Oct. 18.

“After we first worked together, he was talking to a lot of people in Hollywood about me, and I really thank him for doing that,” says the brooding X-Men and Shame star. “Brad not only supported me, but he also encouraged and helped other young talent. He is one of those guys that we need in the industry.”

Fassbender adds, “12 Years a Slave wouldn’t have happened without Brad and his company, Plan B. I’m very grateful that he became a part of it.”

Now that the two hunks have become close professional colleagues, is there a possible bromance brewing between them?

“I don’t know about that, because he never returns my phone calls or emails,” Fassbender joked. “I’ve been following him ever since. I’m trying to get involved in any film he’s doing so I can be with him!”

Between the two of them, Michael seems more like a dude’s dude, a man’s man. Brad… I don’t know. I think most men like Brad, but a hell of a lot of women love him too. Brad seems equally at home with female and male friends and colleagues. But it’s well known that Brad did take a special interest in Michael’s career and Michael has said many times that Brad was telling all of his Hollywood friends about Michael. Which is lovely.

PS… I want to borrow this sweater. This exact sweater. I want to wrap myself up in Fasswool.
